Dr. Fanyin Meng is an Assistant Professor at Digestive Disease Research Center, Scott & White Healthcare, Texas A&M Health Science Center College of Medicine. His research interests include: Functional Role of microRNA and other Non-coding RNAs during Liver Injury; (Alcoholic & Non-alcoholic) and Transformation; Stem/Progenitor Cells in Hepatobiliary Injury and Neoplasm; Cell and Gene Therapy of Liver Injury and Neoplasm and Microarray Bioinformatics in Liver Diseases. Dr. Fanyin Meng has made unusual contributions to the filed of microRNA and gastroenterology. His unique work on microRNA regulation of hepatobiliary injuries and oncogenesis is outstanding because it touches upon critical issues while developing a unique and novel framework. As a result, Dr. Meng’s theory on the role of non-coding RNAs has been published in prestigious international journals and has highly impacted the filed of hepatobiliary research. Moreover, his theories on microRNA regulation of HCC tumor growth has increased the understanding of post cancer survival and helped in the development and identification of the mechanism of which has shed novel light on the applicability of the therapeutic potentials on liver cancer patients. Dr. Meng has more than 50 publications in peer-reviewed journals, 20 of them with first or corresponding authorship, and more than 4000 citations based on Google Scholar Citations Indices. One of his research articles published on 2007 has been ranked the 2nd “Most Frequently Cited Articles from Gastroenterology” which has been cited 1669 times. He has been also the members in the editorial board of several good science journals as well as the professional associations. He is the PI of VA Merit Review Award ($975,000) and co-PI of two R01 grants ($2,250,000) funded from the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases (NIDDK), National Institute of Health (NIH).
