The examination of various DNA repair pathways will demonstrate their role in accounting for the presence of oxidatively modified DNA moieties in extracellular matrices, such as urine. A review of the state-of-the-art, with respect to measurement of urinary DNA biomarkers of oxidative stress will follow, culminating with examples of how such biomarkers may have application in the study/monitoring of health and disease. |
