Monica Guzman,

Dr. Guzman is an Assistant Professor of Pharmacology in Medicine, appointed in the Division of Hematology & Medical Oncology in the Department of Medicine at Weill Cornell Medical College. She obtained her Ph.D. at the University of Kentucky in 2002 and completed her postdoctoral training at the University of Rochester under the mentorship of Dr. Craig Jordan. Dr. Guzman leads a research program focused on the development of therapeutic strategies for targeting leukemia stem cells. The goal of her laboratory is to perform translational research through multidisciplinary interactions to accelerate the development of new and more effective leukemia treatments that ablate leukemia stem cells. She has authored or co-authored numerous papers in the field and has received funding from the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, NIH, V Foundation, the Lauri Strauss Leukemia Foundation, and other organizations. Dr. Guzman is the recipient of the NIH Director’s Innovator Award (2010) and the V Foundation Scholar Award (2010).
