Martin Cohen's Biography

Martin Cohen, Sr Research Fellow, CYTEC Specialty Chemicals

Dr. Cohen is a 32 year veteran of Cytec Industries, having worked in the Specialty Chemicals business as lead researcher in a variety of areas, including exploratory research, product and process development and plastics additives. He was a founding member of the company’s Breakthrough Innovation Group as a technology scout and now is a contributor to the Strategic Technology Group. Starting in 2008 he led a team developing a set of sustainability metrics for use by Cytec’s R&D chemists, which has now been made publicly available at www.isustain.com. Most recently Dr. Cohen has been working to bring continuous flow reactor technology into Cytec, both as a research tool and eventually in commercial production. Dr. Cohen received a B.S. degree in Chemistry from M.I.T. and a Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry from the University of Wisconsin – Madison. A native of New York City, he now lives in White Plains, NY with his wife and youngest son.
