Daniel O’Neill is a senior scientist at AstraZeneca in the department of cell reagents and assay development. He studied pharmacology at the University of Edinburgh before completing his Ph.D in molecular biology at the Cancer Research UK funded Northern Institute for Cancer Research, part of Newcastle University. There he worked with AstraZeneca to develop a cell-based system to characterise prostate cancer relevant androgen receptor mutations for testing new therapeutics. After completing his Ph.D, he joined AstraZeneca in Cambridge where he now works in the field of precise genome editing to develop novel in vitro and in vivo model systems for use in drug discovery and target identification.
