Allowing cells to grow, migrate, and proliferate in a 3D environment results in enhanced secretion of proteins and ECM, with the possibility of printing complex structures housing different cell types, thereby creating superior model systems for study. We present an overview of the 3D bioprinting process, bioink development, and selected applications that have been performed using this technology. |
