Sara Abalde-Cela,
PDRA,
University of Cambridge
'Dr Sara Abalde-Cela has been awarded with her PhD in 2013 at the University of Vigo, Spain. Her PhD research was englobed in the nanotechnology field, involving metal nanoparticle synthesis, integration of metal nanoparticles in hybrid materials as well as practical applications through Surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) spectroscopy. After the award of her PhD, she gained a postdoctoral position at the Department of Chemistry, University of Cambridge, within the Microfluidics Group, leaded by Prof. Chris Abell. Currently, she is mainly involved in the encapsulation of bioethanol producing microalgae strains inside microdroplets for library sorting on microfluidics devices as well as in the integration of nanotechnology within microfluidics.
