Carlotta Guiducci's Biography



Carlotta Guiducci, Professor, Ecole Polytechnique Federale De Lausanne

CCarlotta Guiducci is the Swiss-up foundation chair and head of the Life Sciences Electronics laboratory at the Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL), Switzerland. She is affiliated with the Institute of Electrical Engineering and the Institute of Bioengineering. She received her Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering from University of Bologna (I). Her research interests are in the field of analytical microsystems to enable new personalized medicine approaches. In particular, her team is working on the development of portable DNA-based analytics and on high-throughput systems for on-chip cytometry and single-cell level studies. Carlotta Guiducci is recipient of the 2013 Intel Early Career Faculty Honor Program Award.

Configurable electronic biochips with improved robustness towards the wet environment would enable the widespread use of CMOS-based systems in bioanalytics and personalized medicine. An innovative technology for 3D semi-disposable biochips featuring microelectrode arrays is presented.
