Herman Blok's Biography



Herman Blok, Business Development Manager, Micronit Microtechnologies

Dr. Herman Blok is responsible for business development and coordinating Organ-on-a-Chip related projects at Micronit Microtechnologies. Prior to this he has been a Field Application Scientist in the field of Next Generation Sequencing for Roche and Illumina and has been working in various academic, semi-governmental and industrial positions in the fields of Molecular Genetics & Molecular Biology, Microbiology, Materials Technology, Mechanical Engineering, High Throughput Screening & Laboratory Automation and Chemical Technology. Currently Herman provides expert understanding of the technical and commercial challenges faced during the prototyping and early development of customer projects. He also oversees the marketing and commercialization aspects of Micronit’s products and services, focusing on a robust and industrially scalable development of Organ-on-a-Chip platform technology.

Building on our microfluidic platform technology and interfacing solutions for Organ-on-a-Chip applications we demonstrate here integrated sensors based on electrode-integration for TEER (trans epithelial electrical resistance) or EIS (electrochemical impedance spectroscopy), as well as chemical sensors, such as oxygen sensors.
