Since 1989, Beat Boller is a practical forage grass and clover breeder at Agroscope in Zürich-Reckenholz, a Swiss Federal Research Station for agriculture. He released more than 80 cultivars of 14 different species of grass and clover which are grown in many countries of Europe. His educational background is from ETH Zürich where he graduated in agronomy (1975) and accomplished a Ph.D. thesis in crop physiology of white clover (1980). Before starting his career as a plant breeder, he was a senior researcher at ETH Zürich with a focus on nitrogen fixation in clover-grass mixtures. He was chairman of the Fodder Crops and Amenity Grasses Section of EUCARPIA from 2006 to 2011 and is a member of the Executive Committee of EUCARPIA since 2008, as its president since 2012.
