Markus Beck,
Assistant Fellow,
University of Twente
After his PhD in the field of semiconductor spintronics (Univ. Erlangen) and research on integrated photonics (Paul-Drude Institute Berlin), Markus Beck entered the area of microfluidics in 2007 with a research fellowship of the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation at the Palo Alto Research Center, where he worked on a novel signal modulation technique for microfluidic point-of-care flow cytometry. Since 2009, he has been developing a cell counting platform for simple and affordable point-of-care diagnostics. With an ERC Starting Independent Researcher Grant he received in 2011, he will extend this concept to new applications.
