Firat Güder is an Assistant Professor of Bioengineering at Imperial College London, UK. Prior to his appointment at Imperial in March 2016, he worked with Prof. George M. Whitesides at Harvard University, Department of Chemistry as a Research Fellow, focusing on the development of new paper-based technologies. With an undergraduate degree in computer engineering from the University of New Brunswick (Canada) and PhD in Nanomaterials from the University of Freiburg (Germany), his current research is highly interdisciplinary and spans material science, microsystems engineering, chemistry, and computer engineering (including hardware and software development). With the vision of translating technologies from lab to field, the Güder research group currently focuses on developing new sensor technologies for use in healthcare, agricultural and food sciences including, but not limited to, new platforms for disease diagnostics, monitoring plants, animals, and food freshness.
