Michael Roehrl's Biography

Michael Roehrl, Director, UHN Program in BioSpecimen Sciences, University Health Network, University of Toronto

Dr. Roehrl is Director of the UHN Program in BioSpecimen Sciences and Associate Professor of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at the University of Toronto. Dr. Roehrl is a practicing physician-scientist and dually board-certified in Pathology and Laboratory Medicine. He holds an MD from the Technical University of Munich, a Ph.D. in Biological Chemistry from Harvard University, and trained clinically at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston. His research group works on biomarker discovery of gastrointestinal cancers, using a wide variety of biochemical, biophysical (mass spec), next gen sequencing, and computational approaches.
