Deepak Choudhury,
Research Scientist,
Singapore Institute of Manufacturing Technology
Dr. Deepak has over 8 years of research experience in the field of bioengineering. He obtained his PhD from National University of Singapore (NUS) and IBN A*STAR in 2012. During this he developed a substrate for scalable cell alignment for biological applications. His current research interests in SIMTech’s Bio-Manufacturing Programme include developing scale-up processes/platforms to fabricate tissues for toxicology studies, transplantation and disease modelling applications. He is driving 3D Bioprinting and large-scale processing of biomaterials through various projects. He is also developing microfluidics based assay systems for precisely feeding Drosophila (common fruit fly). In past he had developed microfluidics devices for zebrafish embryos. These small animal-on-chip systems could be used for drug-screening applications. He has 10 publications and 3 patents to his credit.
