Steven Boxer's Biography

Steven Boxer, Professor, Stanford University

Steven Boxer is the Camille and Henry Dreyfus Professor in the Department of Chemistry at Stanford University. His research interests are at the interface of physical chemistry, biology and engineering. Topics of current interest include: electron and energy transfer mechanisms in photosynthesis, electrostatics and dynamics in proteins, Stark spectroscopy and the origins of catalysis, the fabrication of artificial systems to simulate, manipulate and image biological membranes, and the excited state dynamics of green fluorescent protein, especially applications of split GFP to control interactions in complex systems with light. He is the recipient of several awards and is an elected member of the National Academy of Sciences. More information can be found at: http://www.stanford.edu/group/boxer/.
