Petra Kluger's Biography

Petra Kluger, Researcher, Fraunhofer Institute for Interfacial Engineering and Biotechnology

Petra Kluger is head of the department Cell and Tissue Engineering at the Fraunhofer Institute for Interfacial Engineering and Biotechnology in Stuttgart since 2013. In parallel she is a professor for Tissue Engineering at Reutlingen-University. She studies technical biology at the University in Stuttgart and focused early on interdisciplinary topics in the field of tissue engineering and biomaterials. Her first activity in the biofabrication area started in 2008 and since then her group focused on the use of extrusion based bioprinting techniques to manufacture human tissues and their future use as tissue models e.g. for drug screening or as cell-based implants for reconstructive or regenerative medicine. Beside her scientific activities she is very dedicated in lecturing in the areas of Tissue Engineering and Biofabrication.
