3D Printing in Science European Congress Agenda

Print Agenda

Tuesday, 16 May 2017

08:00

Registraation

09:00

Engineering Immune-modulatory Niches
Amir Ghaemmaghami, , The University of Nottingham, United Kingdom

09:30

3D Bioprinted Human Soft Tissue
Paul Gatenholm, Professor, Director of 3D Bioprinting Center, Chalmers University of Technology, Sweden; CEO, CELLHEAL AS, Norway, Sweden

10:00

Catechol-PEG based Bioinks for 3D Printing and Gluing
Aranzazu Del Campo, Scientific Director INM, Leibniz Institute for New Materials, Germany
Malgorzata Wlodarczyk-Biegun, Research Scientist, INM, Leibniz Institute for New Materials, Germany

We present a new catechol-PEG based biocompatible ink for 3D extrusion bioprinting. Scaffolds with good shape fidelity are shown. Rheological properties of the material can be adjusted by ink’s component concentrations within physiological ranges.

10:30

Coffee & Networking

11:00

Biomicrofabrication via Low-voltage Electrospinning Patterning
Yan Yan Shery Huang, Lecturer, University of Cambridge, United Kingdom

This presentation will demonstrate LEP’s applications in fabricating bio-scaffolds in microfluidics, producing single-fibres with multi-scale morphologies, and the printing of living bacteria. A cancer metastasis model based on the combination of biofabrication and microfluidics will also be demonstrated.

11:30

3D Laser Printing of Scaffolds, Nanoparticles and Living Cells
Boris Chichkov, Professor, Laser Zentrum Hannover , Germany

In this lecture, we discuss laser-based techniques applied for precise generation of 3D scaffolds for tissue engineering and for printing nanoparticles and living cells into 3D patterns.

12:00

Lunch and Networking

13:15

Poster Viewing Session

14:30

Michael GelinskyKeynote Presentation

Exceeding the Limits of Extrusion-based Additive Manufacturing for Biomedical Applications
Michael Gelinsky, Professor, Technical University Dresden, Germany

15:15

Commercialising Customised Living Implants: Lessons from Franchised Manufacturing
Nicholas Medcalf, , Loughborough University, United Kingdom

Customised and personalized living healthcare products are of increasing importance. Manufacture requires a sound basis of assurance of quality. Control of materials, equipment, manufacture and staff training can be managed close to clinic using the ‘franchise prototype’ business model.

15:45

Coffee & Networking

16:15

3D Printing of Auxiliary Hydrogel Structures for Personalised Implants
Nihal Engin Vrana, Fundamental Research Manager, PROTiP, Ireland

The talk will focus on i) 3D printed, personalized intralaryngeal implants based on our previous clinical experiences ii) Design and development of bioprintable, immune cell-laden novel immunomodulatory hydrogels.

16:45

Natural Polymers of Bacterial Origin and Their Application in Tissue Engineering
Ipsita Roy, Reader, University of Westminster, United Kingdom

17:15

Vladimir Mironov, Chief Scientific Officer, 3D Bioprinting Solutions, Brazil

11:45

3D Printing in Microfluidics
Rosanne Guijt, Senior Lecturer, University of Tasmania, Australia

3D printing has developed from a high-end manufacturing platform to a consumer product. The consequent market expansion has led to an increase in capabilities in material choice and resolution, making it an increasingly attractive approach for rapid prototyping in microfluidics.

Jeffrey MorganKeynote Presentation

The Bio-Pick, Place and Perfuse (Bio-P3): A New Instrument for Building Living Tissue
Jeffrey Morgan, Professor of Medical Science and Engineering, Brown University, United States of America

This talk will focus on additive manufacturing strategies for someday building organs and will highlight the Bio-P3, a new instrument that picks, places and perfuses a stack of living tissue parts.

15:15

Coffee & Networking

15:45

Extrusion based Printing Techniques for Generating 3D Tissues
Petra Kluger, Researcher, Fraunhofer Institute for Interfacial Engineering and Biotechnology, Germany

Tissue Engineering is based on the manually combination of cells, scaffolds and specific signals to build up tissues. Using bioprinting techniques could advance the whole field and help to create complex tissue structures, like blood vessels.

16:15

Development of Multimaterial and Multiscale Biofabrication Approach to Reproduce the 3D Complexity of Natural Tissue
Giovanni Vozzi, Associate Professor, University of Pisa, Italy

In this talk, the use of a multiscale and multimaterial process will be presented to develop 3D in vitro model that can mimic the 3D complexity of natural tissue.
