Dietrich Kohlheyer,
Group Leader,
Forschungszentrum Juelich GmbH
Dr. Dietrich Kohlheyer did his master in mechatronics engineering. He then moved to the Netherlands and did his PhD in the field of microsystems for Chemistry and Life Sciences at the University of Twente at the MESA+ Institute for Nanotechnology. Afterwards he worked for the Spin-Off company Medimate developing microfluidic Point-of-care diagnostic devices, including a postdoctoral visit at the University of Alberta in Canada. In 2010 he established the research group “Microscale Bioengineering” at the Institute for Bio and Geosciences at the Research Centre in Juelich. His current research is focused on the development and utilization of novel microfluidic systems for microbial single cell analysis.
