Overview

Welcome to the SelectBIO Point-of-Care Diagnostics, Global Health & Biosensors 2020 Conference.

This annual conference discusses the expanding Point-of-Care Diagnostics, Global Health & Biosensors fields providing the most up-to-date presentations from leaders in these fields and offer networking and engagement opportunities with delegates from around the world.

This conference provides an overview of the point-of-care (POC) testing landscape, from novel technologies to regulatory approval.  Experts in these fields will share their views on point-of-care in the clinical setting. The aim of this meeting is to bring together life science researchers that work at the interface between biology and chemistry and technology development to discuss problems, highlight solutions and facilitating collaborations.

In addition to POC Diagnostics, Next Generation Sequencing for Pathogen Detection, Rapid Biodetection and Threat Identification, Single Cell and Single Molecule Analysis are topics that will be discussed at this conference.

Amy Adelberger will Chair a panel discussion entitled "Nexus of Point-of-Care Diagnostics and Global Health:  Lessons from the Coronavirus Pandemic."

Registered delegates have full access to the co-located and concurrent conferences to mix-and-match presentations and maximize networking:
  • Lab-on-a-Chip and Microfluidics: Emerging Themes, Technologies and Applications 2020
  • Lab-on-a-Chip and Microfluidics: Techologies, Companies and Commercialization 2020
  • Biosensors & Point-of-Care Diagnostics 2020
  • Organ-on-a-Chip World Congress 2020
  • Microfluidics & Single Cell Analysis Summit 2020
New at the 2020 Conference:

SESSION ON ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE-LINKED DIAGNOSTIC SOLUTIONS
ORGANIZED BY: Professor John T. McDevitt, New York University

The focus of this timely session is “Artificial Intelligence (AI)-Linked Diagnostic Solutions”.  The healthcare industry is in the middle of an exciting transformation as the cloud, AI, and technology innovations unlock new efficiencies in healthcare delivery and discover new breakthroughs in scientific exploration. In this session, leading experts in the subject topic, both from academia and industry, will present their perspectives of how AI can be used to improve diagnostics and clinical decision making. Recently, a number of AI-related products have secured U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) market clearance. Many more tools of this type are in progress or are pending FDA review.

There are four main areas where AI is being implemented in this space including the following:
  • Computer-aided diagnosis.
  • Clinical decision support
  • Quantitative analysis tools
  • Computer-aided detection
Automated quantification tools are entering a level of maturity and acceptance in the market, with AI making measurements from imaging exams and auto-filling fields or performing calculations that were previously manual and time-consuming. These capabilities run in the background of numerous products already in clinical use.
