Jennifer JonesNIH Stadtman Investigator, Head of Transnational Nanobiology, Laboratory of Pathology, Center for Cancer Research, National Cancer InstituteDr. Jones is NIH Stadtman Investigator, Head of Transnational Nanobiology, Laboratory of Pathology at the Center for Cancer Research, National Cancer Institute, who is developing, refining, and applying advanced high-resolution flow cytometric methods to the characterization of EV subsets. She initiated/cofounded the international ISEV-ISAC-ISTH EV Flow Cytometry Working Group, to support the development of consensus best practices and standardization methods for the field. The ultimate goal of her research is to develop a new class of EV-based biomarkers (and methods for anlyzing those EVs) that will enable adaptve therapeutic strategies, where individual patient treatments are customized based on early responses to treatment. |
Damien PearseProfessor, Department of Neurological Surgery; The John M. and Jocelyn H.K. Watkins Distinguished Chair in Cell Therapies, University of Miami Miller School of MedicineDr. Pearse is a Professor at The Miami Project to Cure Paralysis, Department of Neurological Surgery at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine. Dr. Pearse is also a Research Health Scientist at the Bruce Carter Miami VA Healthcare System. Dr. Pearse received his undergraduate degree in Biotechnology and doctorate in Neuroscience from Griffith University, Queensland, Australia. Following a postdoctoral fellowship at The University of Miami, Dr. Pearse joined the faculty. Dr. Pearse was an associate in the Christopher and Dana Reeve Foundation Consortium from 2000 to 2006 and in 2005 received the Erica Nader Award for being the Outstanding Investigator in SCI Research from the American Spinal Injury Association. Dr. Pearse is currently The John M. and Jocelyn H.K. Watkins Distinguished Chair in Cell Therapies where his work is focused on the translation of autologous cell therapies for neural repair following spinal cord injury and other neurological disorders. |
Steve SoperFoundation Distinguished Professor, Director, Center of BioModular Multi-Scale System for Precision Medicine, The University of KansasProf. Soper is currently a Foundation Distinguished Professor in Chemistry and Mechanical Engineering at the University of Kansas, Lawrence. Prof. Soper also holds an appointment at Ulsan National Institute of Science and Technology in Ulsan, South Korea, where he is a World Class University Professor. He is also serving as a Science Advisor for a number of major worldwide companies. Prof. Soper is currently on the Editorial Board for Scientific Reports and Journal of Micro- and Nanosystems. |
Aijun WangChancellor's Fellow Professor, University of California-DavisDr. Aijun Wang is a Chancellor's Fellow, Professor of Surgery and of Biomedical Engineering at the University of California, Davis (UC Davis). He is the Vice Chair for Translational Research, Innovation and Entrepreneurship for the Department of Surgery, Co-founder and Co-Director of the Center for Surgical Bioengineering (CSB), formerly known as Surgical Bioengineering Laboratory, and Dean's Fellow in Entrepreneurship at the UC Davis School of Medicine. He is also a Principal Investigator at the Institute for Pediatric Regenerative Medicine (IPRM) / Shriners Hospitals Pediatric Research Center, Northern California. Dr. Wang’s research focuses on developing tools, technologies and products that combine molecular, cellular, tissue and biomaterial engineering to promote regeneration and restore function. Specifically, the Wang Group is focused on engineering and developing stem cell/gene therapy, extracellular vesicles/nanomedicine, and extracellular matrix/biomaterial scaffolds for the treatment of surgical conditions and diseases. Dr. Wang and his team at CSB specialize in bringing therapeutics from bench to bedside, through translational and IND-enabling studies, GMP manufacturing, and conducting clinical trials in both human and companion animal patients. |
