SELECTBIO Conferences Exosomes and Microvesicles: Research, Biomarker Cargo and Therapeutic Potential

Phillip Munson's Biography

Phillip Munson, Researcher

Cancer research has been a defining goal of mine for over a decade, and this led me to pursue the molecular sciences during my academic career. With a strong background in biochemistry, and an ever-developing passion for making discoveries that will advance the cure for cancer, I am well-suited to participate and contribute to the field. I mainly studied structural biology and worked on techniques for elucidating complex carbohydrate chains indicative of disease states such as cancer and HIV. My particular interests lie in the discovery and identification of cancer biomarkers, as this area of research holds huge potential for discovering improvements in disease diagnosis and prognosis, and therapeutic targets for treatment. My pwork greatly focuses on defining and characterizing the role of exosomes in the development and progression of malignant mesothelioma, as well as on identifying novel biomarkers of this deadly cancer. I view my involvement in scientific research as my way to make a meaningful contribution to the world and make a difference in benefitting and advancing human health.
