Industrial and Commercial Aspects of Organ-on-a-Chip Systems Development and Application

While organ-on-a-chip devices have been a hot topic in the academic world for several years, their transition towards commercially viable products has proven to be more difficult than expected.

This course will discuss and highlight various aspects of this process from a commercial perspective:

• Discussion of industrial needs, user requirements and business models
• Overview of market participants
• Review of manufacturing technologies available for organ-on-a-chip devices and evaluation of their industrial use and scalability
• Highlighting of production challenges
• Factors influencing device and operating cost

This course is suitable both for engineers and scientists in academia and industry who would like to obtain a broader view over the organ-on-a-chip landscape as well as research and program managers who would like to  organize development and commercialization processes in this field.
