Introduction to Laboratory Automation Informatics Systems

Joe Liscouski, Executive Director, Institute for Laboratory Automation Inc Joe Liscouski, Executive Director of the Institute for Laboratory Automation, is an experienced laboratory automation professional with over thirty years experience in the field including the design and development of automation systems, LIMS, robotics and data interchange standards. He has held symposia on validation, and presented technical material and short courses on laboratory automation and computing in the US, Europe, and Japan, and wrote an editorial defining the need for Laboratory Automation Engineering as a means of advancing the state-of-the-art. Publications include books and book chapters on computing and automation and over thirty technical papers. His most recent work has centered on the development of a new approach to technology planning and management for automation and computing.
John Trigg, Director, PhaseFour Informatics John Trigg is Founder and Director of phaseFour Informatics, a UK –based consultancy specialising in the Electronic Laboratory Notebooks and laboratory integration. He extensive experience working in the field of R&D data, information and knowledge management, including 10 years experience of the world’s first enterprise level implementation of an Electronic Lab Notebook in the Eastman Kodak Company. John is author of a number of publications on Electronic Laboratory Notebooks and Knowledge Management in the Laboratory and has presented papers and run workshops at conferences in the UK, Ireland, mainland Europe, USA and Australia. John is also the founder of The Integrated Lab website. He was the recipient of the 2000 International LIMS Award and is currently the Chairman of the Automation and Analytical Management Group of the Royal Society of Chemistry and an Advisory Board Member of the Institute for Laboratory Automation.
