Zheng Yang,
Principal Investigator,
NUS Tissue Engineering Program, National University of Singapore
Zheng YANG, PhD, is a Principal Investigator in Tissue Engineering Program, Life Sciences Institute at the National University of Singapore (NUS), with affiliation to the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery. Zheng did her PhD in the Connective Tissue Group at the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, Monash University. Her Post-doctorate training was on inflammation at the School of Medical Sciences, University of New South Wales. She became a Project Leader in the Joint Disease Program of Prostrakan Pharmaceuticals, France, before joining NUS in 2005. Zheng’s research focuses on cartilage tissue engineering and regeneration using stem cells, with the emphasis on the investigation, and mechanistic study of the effect of various microenvironmental factors in directing stem cell differentiation. Aspect including matrix component, topographical and mechanical cues of the scaffold, in relationship to biophysical stimulation are being studied with the aim of gaining knowledge for the future design of functional scaffold for stem cell-based cartilage tissue engineering.
