Amit Banerjee,
Professor,
Wayne State University
Amit Banerjee is on the Faculty of the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences at Wayne State University in Detroit. Since 2004 he is also an Adjunct Professor in the Department of International Medical Education and Development, Faculty of Medicine, at the University of Bonn in Germany. Dr. Banerjee has over 30 years experience in Regulation of Cellular mechanisms, particularly through genetic, biochemical and computational methods. He has pioneered the development of a genetic method, aided by computational biology, to identify small molecule drugs against novel targets. Dr. Banerjee has considerable expertise in the drug discovery process from target identification, in silico screening of compounds, to molecular enzymology, chemical genetic and biochemical characterization of leads and molecular mechanism of action of drugs.
