After an education as a research technician in the eighties, I started my career at the University Medical Centre in Groningen. In this period of time I did several jobs: • Research technician on a project to map a disease gene using a linkage approach • Research technician on a cancer research project to unravel the cancer mechanism • Head technician of the DNA-diagnostic lab, facilitating a growing number of diagnostic tests • Head technician of a new micro-array facility, involved in both RNA-expression experiments and ArrayCGH experiments • Manager of the Genome Analysis Facility of the department, and working together with many researchers in the field of RNA-expression studies, genotyping and Next Generation sequencing
