Robert Luxenhofer's Biography

Robert Luxenhofer, Professor, Technische Universitat Dresden

Dr Luxenhofer completed his doctorate in polymer chemistry with the development of novel functional polymers for applications in nanomedicine at the Technische Universität München, Germany, in 2007. During a postdoctoral stay at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, Nebraska, USA he studied endocytosis of different nanomedicines and developed novel high-capacity drug delivery systems. In 2009 he moved to the Technische Universität Dresden, Germany and is since developing high-performance polymers for applications in nanomedicine.

Doubly amphiphilic poly(2-oxazoline)s are biocompatible and accessible by living polymerization. The doubly amphiphilic nature allows for solubilization of unprecedented amounts of extremely hydrophobic drugs, such as paclitaxel or 17-AAG in highly stable micelles of small size (< 100 nm).
