Dr. "Will" Wenmiao Shu is an Associate Professor in Microengineering at Heriot-Watt University, Edinburgh. Originally from China, he received his Ph.D. from Cambridge University Engineering Department and Nanoscience Centre. Following a postdoctoral position at Cambridge University, he jointed Heriot-Watt University as a lecturer (assistant professor), jointly appointed by the Edinburgh Research Partnership (ERP) Joint Research Institute of Integrated Systems (JRI -IIS), in collaboration with Edinburgh University. He established the Biomedical Microengineering Group at Heriot-Watt University, part of the Institute of Biological Chemistry, Biophysics and Bioengineering. His research interests cover a range of biomedical microengineering topics including 3D biofabrication, biosensors, lab-on-a-chip, synthetic biology, regenerative medicine and micro/nanodevices. He is a fellow of the Higher Education Academy UK, fellow of Cambridge Overseas Society, founding member of Royal Society of Edinburgh Young Academy, member of IEEE, EMBS and SPIE.
