Eric Olson is an Assistant Professor and Wheat Breeder at Michigan State University. He obtained a PhD in Plant Breeding and Genetics from Kansas State University in 2012 and began developing soft winter wheat varieites at MSU in 2013. Research interests include the use of wild wheat relatives in wheat improvement, disease resistance, quality and nutritional properties of wheat. Current projects include positional cloning of disease resistance genes, understanding the mechanisms of pre-harvest sprouting and late maturity amylase activity.
