Shilpi Sharma's Biography

Shilpi Sharma, Associate Professor, Indian Institute of Technology Delhi

Shilpi Sharma graduated from Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi, with a Masters degree in Science (Botany). She went on to pursue her Ph.D. in the area of Plant Microbe Interaction under the able guidance of Prof Dr Anton Hartman at Ludwig Maximilians University, Munich, Germany. For her postdoctoral training she joined the group of Prof. Dr. Michael Schloter at German Research Centre for Environmental Health, Munich. She has been working in the area of Functional Microbial Ecology since then. Dr Sharma joined IIT Delhi in 2008. She is currently serving as an Associate Professor at the Institute. Her current research interests include risk assessment of agricultural amendments, and plant microbe interactions. She has to her credit approximately 40 international publications. She has been bestowed upon Young Scientist Award by Association of Microbiologists of India, Innovation Young Scientist Award by Asian PGPR Society, Outstanding Young Faculty Fellowship by IIT Delhi, to name a few.
