Swaine Chen's Biography

Swaine Chen, Assistant Professor, National University of Singapore

Swaine Chen is a M.D./Ph.D. scientist studying mechanisms of infectious disease.
He uses urinary tract infection caused by Escherichia coli as a model system for integrating sequencing, bioinformatics, molecular evolution, bacterial genetics, and mammalian models of pathogenesis to elucidate key disease pathways.
The focus on computational and evolutionary approaches combined with in vivo validation provides important foundations for generality and future therapeutic relevance.
