Ute Neugebauer's Biography



Ute Neugebauer, Principal Investigator, Jena University

Ute Neugebauer studied chemistry at the University of Jena, Germany, and at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, USA. After her Ph.D. in physical chemistry she joined the Biomedical Diagnostics Institute, Dublin, Ireland for post-doctoral research. Since March 2011 she is a junior research group leader at the Center for Sepsis Control and Care, Jena University Hospital, and at the Institute of Photonic Technology Jena. Her research is concerned with the spectroscopic investigation of biomedical problems.

The potential of Raman spectroscopy as a label-free and non-destructive vibrational spectroscopic method is demonstrated with a special focus on leukocytes. Furthermore, possible combinations of Raman spectroscopy with microfluidics or patch clamp are presented.
