Ashoke Sharon's Biography

Ashoke Sharon, Associate Professor, Birla Institute of Technology Mesra

Dr Ashoke Sharon (born 1975, India), after Ph.D. in the area of Medicinal Chemistry from CSIR-Central Drug Research Institute, Lucknow, moved to Drug Discovery Group, University of Georgia, USA in 2004 for post-doctoral research on design and synthesis of carbocyclic nucleosides as antiviral candidate. In 2009, he returned India to join Department of Chemistry, Birla Institute of Technology, Mesra, Ranchi and presently working as Associate Professor. Dr. Sharon, a medicinal and structural chemist in collaboration with biologist published 68 papers and 03 patents. He is continuing his drug discovery effort with his group (Drug Discovery Education & Research Group; www.dder.in ) and current research includes in-silico simulation /modeling and synthesis of drug like analogs towards antiviral drug discovery.
