Caddie Wang's Biography

Caddie Wang, CEO, Qingdao Unique Product Develop Co., Ltd

Professor Caddie Wang, the chief scientist of National High Technology Research and Development Program 863 (“863 Program”), is ever invited to give lectures to those prestigious universities, such as Beijing University, Shanghai Jiao Tong University and Ocean University of China etc. Caddie began her major of polymer material in Shandong University and was voted as “National People’s Congress on behalf of students” by 30,000 teachers and students when she was a junior student in college. Caddie was also awarded “the most excellent professional manager” during her eight years of career in Nestle China. She won “Industry Solutions Architect Champion” of “The Excellerated Business School for Entrepreneurs” (BSE) held in Malaysia 2009 and gained “Nominations for The Best” in the new product creativity contest held by ZAZZLE. Caddie became the CEO of Qingdao Unique Products Develop Co., Ltd. In 2001; Under her leadership, Qingdao Unique has become a China leading enterprise in 3D-printing and Industry 4.0, and it has developed the first 3D Bio-printer with four nozzles to print living cells and multiple bio-materials in China. What’s more, Unique Group has committed itself to researching cornea and meniscus on basic of multiple biomaterials, such as collagen, protein fiber, chitosan, PCL (poly caprolactone), hydroxyapatite and tricalcium phosphate etc., and has established strategic cooperation with the General Hospital of People’s Liberation Army (PLAGH) as well as Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine.

The most difficulties to overcome in traditional preparation of artificial cornea are scaffold support strength and optical properties, as well as internal structure controllability and contour curvature of artificial cornea. Meanwhile, the orientation and arrangement of corneal cells on scaffolds are issues too. 3D printing technology offers the opportunity of molding complex organs based on its high precision and personalization. 3D printing based on different parameters in various ages, creates personalized mold and produces individualized simulated artificial cornea.  As for the medical treatment of meniscus injury, the classic methods are repairing, resection or transplantation. However, 3D printing meniscal scaffolds, choosing biodegradable materials to meet biocompatibility and mechanical properties, can be well controlled the morphology, structure and porosity. Qingdao Unique Product Develop Co., Ltd developed this 3D Bio-printer which prints a variety of biomaterials and cells simultaneously. On the basis of different biomaterial and densities in human tissue structure, the build platform with four nozzles is designed to print multiple biomaterials in one object. Our 3D Bio-printer has the capacity of fabricating scaffolds using the widest range of materials, such as PCL (polycaprolactone), HA (hydroxyapatite), TCL (tricalcium phosphate), P(CL-LLC), collagen, fiber and chitosan etc.
