Masamichi Nishiguchi's Biography

Masamichi Nishiguchi, Professor, Ehime University

Dr. Masamichi Nishiguchi is a Professor at Ehime University in Japan. He gained BS, MS and Ph. D from Faculty of Agriculture, Kyoto University. He has held positions within government and academia, working at Institute for Plant Virus Research and National Institute of Agrobiological Sciences, Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries of Japan (MAFF) as well as at Ehime University. He has also experiences to study abroad as a visiting fellow at Cornell University and Michigan State University in USA and at Sainsbury Laboratory in UK. He research has been focusing on RNA silencing and molecular breeding with interests including the development of transgenic plants carrying both biotic and abiotic stresses. Since the world population is now increasing every year, thus his research efforts will contribute to the safe and stable world food supply. He visited various countries, including Australia, Bangladesh, Germany, Italy, Korea, New Zealand, Singapore, The Netherlands, UK and USA under the collaborative projects and for attending the international conferences. His honors include: Overseas’ research Fellowship from Science and Technology Agency of Japan (STA), Japan-UK Collaboration Fund from STA, the Program for Promotion of Basic and Applied Researches in Bio-oriented Industry from National Agriculture and Food Research Organization of Japan and the Prize from Phytopathological Society of Japan.
