Jonas Ries, Group Leader, EMBL Heidelberg

Jonas Ries

Jonas Ries studied physics with a focus on quantum optics in Bremen, Konstanz and Hannover. During his PhD at the TU Dresden in the group of Petra Schwille he developed new methods to apply fluorescence correlation spectroscopy (FCS) on membranes. For his post-doctoral research he joined the group of Helge Ewers and Vahid Sandoghdar at the ETH Zürich where he started working with superresolution microscopy. In 2012 he joined the EMBL, Heidelberg as a groupleader and his group continues with developing novel tools for superresolution microscopy and with applying them to exciting biological questions.
