Girish Mahajan, Vice President, HiMedia Laboratories Pvt Ltd

Dr Girish Mahajan is currently associated with HiMedia Laboratories Pvt Ltd, Vice-President (Microbiology). Prior to that he was with OmniActive Health Technologies, Piramal Enterprises Ltd and couple of other biotech companies as Consultant. He has past professional experience in renowned organizations like Piramal Enterprises, Uni-Lever, Hoechst and Johnson & Johnson. He is an active member and mentor of American Society for Microbiology (ASM) & Association of Microbiologists in India (AMI), Fellow of Society of Applied Biotechnology-India, member of board of studies and visiting faculty of many premier schools of biotechnology, Alumni of ICT and referee for International journals. He has 11 patents and 78 International and national scientific publications, many national & international collaborations/joint venture coordination experiences on his credentials. He has guided 25 post graduates dissertation projects.
He completed the Doctorate in Microbiology from Institute of Chemical Technology (ICT, former UDCT)-Mumbai and developed a very cost effective way of production of a High-value chemical from micro-algae. He has been honored with several prestigious awards “AMI-Louis Pasteur Award-2013”, “OPPI Scientist Award-2012”, "ISCB award of appreciation for Industry Scientist-2012, in the area of Drug Research", “Eminent Biotechnologist-2010” and “ICT- Lupin Visiting Fellowships for Bioprocess Technology: 2011-2012” by ICT. He has been also working as scientific counselor for some schools and colleges for Biotech and microbiology profession. He has wandered many extreme natural ecological niches of India in search of new microbial resources to discover new antibiotic leads towards betterment of mankind.
