Overview

The Flow Chemistry Society is delighted to announce their 7th annual European Conference.  Benefit from the expert knowledge of academic and industry leaders who are pushing the boundaries of this rapidly evolving field and learn how you can transform your organic synthesis processes into a more streamlined, continuous set of synthesis operations.  Also, take advantage of the exhibition to network with world-leading flow chemistry technology providers.  Note that Society members save 25% on the cost of registration and non-members receive their first year's membership included in the fee.

Regarding this year's agenda topics, in recent years Medicinal Chemistry has pushed Flow Chemistry developments to the limit.  Making complex molecular scaffolds needs advanced technologies and flow chemistry can open doors to scale-up, thus producing new drug candidates faster.  Improved time-to-market is very important in view of 10-25 years overall development and billions of investment to develop a drug.   All kinds of synthetic chemistry dedicated flow chemistries will be covered here.  The FDA is encouraging the development of emerging manufacturing technology in order to improve manufacturing, consequently improving product quality and availability throughout its lifecycle.   Accordingly, the Emerging Technology Team has been formed within FDA's CDER.   End-to-end continuous-flow production for the pharmaceutical industry has been stimulated by the MIT/Novartis collaboration and is now on the edge of becoming a prime flow chemistry research topic which may change the pharmaceutical landscape.

Future chemical production has moved toward the compartmentalized bio-assembly lines of nature's cells as there is a currently a surplus of cheap green energy.  On the other hand, chemical processes become ever more energy-efficient.   The so-called Electrification of Chemistry is thus reaching a business case that makes use of the smallest units - electrons.  Nature has photons as small energy units for making large amounts of biomass and the merger of microfluidics and photo chemistry gives an outstanding match. This might change entire process schemes -  Einstein would surely have approved!

We are delighted to announce that The Royal Society of Chemistry (Reaction Chemistry & Engineering Journal) will be sponsoring the ePosters award for the Best Poster at the event.

SELECTBIO is offering a limited number of student bursaries at this event. Find out more
