Overview

This conference track within the SELECTBIO Circulating Biomarkers World Congress 2015 brings together topics relating to the study and utilization of Extracellular Nucleic Acids (such as circulating-free DNA and circulating RNA) as well as circulating tumor cells (CTCs) in biological fluids as a circulating biomarker class.

Recent work has demonstrated the potential for cfDNA as a proxy for monitoring tumor progression and there is a great deal of interest currently in the potential utilization of cfDNA as a means to genotype for cancer mutations and the utilization/deployment of targeted therapies targeting such mutations.  This topic will be explored in this conference track.  Additionally, the potential role of circulating RNA and its utility as a circulating biomarker will be discussed.

This track also brings in presentations focusing on circulating tumor cells (CTCs) as a biomarker for various cancer classes as a means to have a head-to-head discussion of the merits of cfDNA, Circulating RNA, as well as CTCs as oncology biomarkers for monitoring disease progression.

Agenda Topics

  • Circulating RNAs as a Potential Biomarker Class (Small RNAs such as microRNAs are an Attractive Biomarker Class)
  • Circulating Tumor Cells (CTCs): Methodologies for Isolation and Interrogation
    • Head-to-Head Comparison of CTCs with ctDNA as Circulating Biomarkers
  • Circulating Tumor DNA (ctDNA): Potential for Monitoring Disease Progression in Oncology
  • Circulating-Free DNA (cfDNA) as a Cancer Biomarker for Correctly Deploying Targeted Therapeutics and Enabling Personalized Medicine
  • Digital PCR Applications for Circulating Biomarker Interrogation
  • Methodologies for Isolating and Characterizing Extracellular Nucleic Acids (cfDNA, Extracellular RNA)
  • Tools and Technologies for Monitoring Extracellular Nucleic Acids in Biological Fluids
